Chaffing; its causes and prevention measures
When your body parts rub each other you experience an itchy feeling which is very uncomfortable and that is what we call chaffing. Chaffing can occur on the different parts of the body but mostly it is in between your legs when they rub together especially when wearing shorts. Chaffing is very common and most people in the world have experienced it no matter of their body shapes but when you use anti-chafe salve you are not likely to experience it. When one is chaffing the skin is irritated and it can swell and become red. There is pain or a burning sensation when chaffing and that feeling is very annoying and uncomfortable.
Your skin can get blisters due to friction in the skin and your skin can also be itchy at the same time. Chaffing is caused by several things but the first is wearing too tight or loose clothes and you engage in a repetitive movement say walking or running. Fat thighs rub each other when walking so if you will experience chaffing and also a sensitive skin is prone to chaffing. For the people who love going to the beach should be aware that beach sand causes chaffing at different parts of the body so it is good they rinse themselves well after swimming.
The first thing to do to prevent chaffing is to keep your skin and clothes dry. When you want to step out of the house you can prevent yourself from chafing by applying anti chaff cream on your body. Some fabrics like rayon and spandex can prevent chaffing while others like cotton are prone to chaffing so it is up to you to dress well. Women should avoid wearing skirts in summer because they will sweat and this sweat causes friction hence chaffing.
Chaffing is a treatable condition so you need not to worry when you experience it but it takes a while before you completely heal. Do not use iodine or hydrogen peroxide to clean the wound you got and also rest more and avoid activities which can cause more friction to the wound. Coconut oil is also recommended for use because it reduces the inflammation in the skin and soothes the rashes. To avoid getting skin infection it is good for you to let the wounds heal completely and use the right cream to prevent chaffing again. Make sure you use a good anti-chafing cream which will not react badly with your skin instead it should keep your skin whole and moisturized. Ask your friends the kind of anti-chafe cream they use and where they get them from to know which is best for use.
